Professional Background
My professional journey began as an apprentice working in nurseries with children and young people.
This early experience helped me understand how development, attachment and environment shape us over time. I went on to complete:
-
Level 2 in Children and Young People in the Workforce
-
Level 3 in Children’s Learning and Development
As someone who did not thrive in traditional educational settings, this pathway felt meaningful and affirming.
I later achieved:
-
BA (Hons) Childhood and Youth Studies and Psychology – First Class
-
MSc Counselling – Distinction
During my training, I had the privilege of working within the NHS, where high-quality supervision supported my development as a therapist. I also worked with a local academy trust, providing counselling to students needing additional emotional support.
After completing my diploma, I joined a national children’s charity as a therapist while studying for my MSc. Over the following three years, I supported children and young people from the age of five, working alongside families, schools and local authorities, and gaining extensive experience in safeguarding and collaborative support.
My work has included:
-
Children and young people
-
Looked After Children
-
High-trauma and complex presentations
-
Parents and carers
-
Schools and professionals
